Since Ayaka Yamashita cannot hear in her left ear, and Edgar Banasan is a member of an ethnic minority, we can easily empathize with socially vulnerable people. We have the insight and sensibility to notice little things and provide a bridge between minority and majority worlds. Our strength lies in our respect for diverse values and ideas. We have a flexible and sincere attitude toward bridging those differences.
Wisdom Junction is a concept symbolizing one idea that we care about deeply. This is the concept that wisdom is possessed by various people all over the world, who are interrelated and connected in an organic manner so that the whole becomes a source of inspiration for the next generation. Also, this expresses a wish for each person to be aware of the meaning of their own life and know their role as a global citizen through such a connection. Furthermore, through our design/art activities, we encourage the spark of awareness in each person. All of the activities of EDAYA are opportunities for us to encounter the wisdom of unfamiliar worlds. Immersing ourselves in wisdom allows us to experience profound spirituality, which is at the core of our being. It provides motivation for the sustainable development of future activities.
山下彩香は左耳が生まれつき聞こえないという障害を持ち、エドガー・バナサンは少数民族出身であることから、弱きものにも寄り添い、小さなことも見逃さない本質に気づける洞察力と感性を身に着けつつ、マジョリティの世界でも渡り歩いてきました。私たちの強みは、異なる価値観や考えの間を行き来し、共存する方向性を見つけるための柔軟性や真摯な姿勢をもち、様々な手法を織り交ぜつつ、自分たちのデザイン/ アートを構築してきたことだと思います。
私たちが大切にしている考えのひとつを象徴的な言葉で表したものに、Wisdom Junctionというものがあります。これは、世界中の多様な人々が育んできたWisdom＝叡智が交わり、有機的につながっていくことで、それら全体がひとつの時代のインスピレーションとなって次の世代へつながっていくというイメージであり、ひとりひとりにそういった繋がりの中で、自らの生きる意味や地球人としての役割に気づいていってほしいという願いでもあり、さらに私たちがデザイン/ アート活動を通して行っているのは、一人ひとりの中にそのプロセスを後押しする気づきを生み出す働きかけです。全ての活動が、私たち自身も未知の世界の叡智に遭遇する機会であり、叡智の交わりの真っただ中に身を置くことは、全ての活動の源泉ともなっている精神性を自ら深く体験することにつながり、今後の活動の持続的な発展へのモチベーションとなっていくことでしょう。
